Middlefork Volunteer Fire and Rescue was established in 1992. In 1993 a new building was built and remains the home of Middlefork Volunteer Fire and Rescue. Our district services the eastern portion of Powell County, including Natural Bridge State Park and parts of the Red River Gorge. Our mission is to serve and protect the citizens of the eastern portion of Powell County.
Middlefork Volunteer Fire and Rescue provides fire protection; we assist with motor vehicle accidents where extrication is required and traffic control on the scene. We are the lead agency for Powell County search and rescue missions in the Red River Gorge and Natural Bridge areas. We work alongside the Stanton Fire Department and Clay City Fire Rescue, and Powell County Emergency Management/CSEPP when requested in order to better serve the citizens of this county. We work closely with the local schools to provide fire prevention safety programs. We have a Certified Emergency Heliopad for air medical Landings so that it will expedite the treatment of the sick or injured people.
